Brighton Girls Camp
Brighton Girls Camp is a mountain adventure camp for all young women (ages 11-14) at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its purpose is to strengthen young women’s testimonies of Jesus Christ, and their identity as daughters of God.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Campers travel to and from BGC on chartered buses from the chapel located at:
Brighton Point Chapel
Cottonwood Heights, UT
Eat breakfast at home! NO food is allowed on the bus. Lunch is served at camp
Parents/Guardians must make transportation arrangements for their campers to and from this central bus location.
Attendance
Commitment:
Brighton Girls Camp is an overnight camp from Monday through Friday and full attendance is required. Please choose a week that does not conflict with vacations, lessons, sporting events, or family reunions. Campers cannot arrive late or leave early except in emergencies, as it disrupts small group bonding and activities.
Emergencies
Early departures for emergency (e.g. funerals) MUST be arranged with the BGC presidency. A valid ID and emergency contact verification are required for pick-up. Safety and security are our top priority.
Registration Changes
Registration changes including weeks or bunkmates need to be made 10 days before your camp wee starts. Please use the change form. If you need further assistance, contact April Oaks at 801-205-5555.
Camp Friends
Bunkmates:
Many campers come with out a bunkmate! Campers may request one bunkmate. Both campers must list each other as bunkmates on their registration form. Bunkmates of 3 or more are not allowed.
Counselors
Each camper is guided by a dedicated counselor throughout the week. Our young adult counselors are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and are passionate about creating an amazing experience your each camper.
Making Friends
Everyone will have many opportunities to make new friends at camp and see other friends during activites, meals, and free time.
Homesickness
Homesickness is normal. Campers are encouraged to stay engaged, talk with their counselor, and focus on activities.
Parents/guardians will be contacted if the camper request it, or if feel the staff feels it could be helpful. Please remember: no news is good news. With years of experience, our leaders are trained to support campers and help them navigate these feelings.
Parents may consider having their camper receive a priesthood blessing as part of camp preparation. Two sets of full-time service missionary couples live at Brighton each summer and are often called available to give blessings to campers.
Health, Safety, & Medical
Campers must be able to manage themselves independently, be able to walk up and down hills with uneven terrain each day, as well as participate in moderate hikes throughout the week.
Campers must be able to self-administer their own medications, which will be stored in a secure area. Medications must be sent to camp in their original packaging.
Over-the-counter medications can be given to campers if a parent agree to allow this when registering. These may include Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Anti-nausea, antiacid, antihistamine, and cough drops.
Due to uneven terrain and the distances required, the use of crutches or medical walking boots is not permitted for safety reasons.
BGC does NOT have wheelchair accessible cabins or bathrooms in upper camp.
BGC cannot accommodate campers with physical or emotional disabilities or uncontrolled medical conditions.

What Happens at Camp
Activities:
Campers enjoy campfires, outdoor cooking, hikes, ropes courses, rappelling,
ziplining, scripture study, journaling, crafts, skits, and more! We also enjoy delicious meals, lots of singing, and making new friends. Campers stay in cabins with bunk beds (and mattresses) in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Please check the packing list and come prepared for an amazing week!!
Bathrooms/Menstrual cycles:
The camp has flushing toilets and running hot water. We provide basic supplies but we encourage campers to bring their own. Please talk with your camper beforehand and encourage her to communicate with her counselor if she needs help.
